Sometimes the love story of a couple or the way that a family shoot makes me feel needs to be expressed in more than pictures.  Sometimes it is important to explain certain aspects of a shoot to potential clients in more than a simple FAQ post.  For such times these blog articles will fill the gap.

WEDDING QUESTIONS Let's answer some common questions couples have when planning their weddings. My twin sister is getting married [...]

ME AND MY FAMILY A little glimpse into my life and my family. When I shoot a wedding, I get to spend the entire [...]

MY BRANDING EXPERIENCE They say that change is as good as a holiday, and a change for my brand has given me renewed energy and excitement [...]

LEARNING FROM LUKE One of the most memorable families that I have photographed this year is most definitely The Roberts family. I cried a bit when [...]

  • Just 'being' with her baby.
  • Just remembering those crazy Clarens skies. It was electrifying! @fallon131
  • Every year I make a point of attending a workshop. When your work requires you to be creative, its imperative that you remain inspired.
These photos were taken with @edpeers last October. When I saw he was coming to SA, there was no doubt in my mind that I would get a ticket...it didnt matter the price, the location or the date. -
Ed was incredibly kind in his approach. He was an open book and shared with us exactly how he did business and how he achieved his style of photos.
Now I get to pay that kindness forward and I cant wait.
You dont need to be attending my workshop to ask a question though. If there is anything you are stuck with, or want to ask about a technique or resource... please leave a question in the comments.

  • Do you know how lucky we are? ❤
Back in the day, it was quite a schlep to have your photo taken. It definitely wasn't as easy to quickly snap that pic of your child asleep in her spaghetti as it would be in today's world of phone photography. If you were lucky enough to own a camera, you would still need to get the film developed, photos printed and stuck into to the family album.
Do you find that your most vivid childhood memories are those which you have seen photos of?
How amazing is it that we can give our kids the opportunity to remember all those small moments. The holidays, the visitors, the animals, the meals, the sunrises and rainbows, the time she walked around in Mom's high heels with a bra on her head.
Photographs are a gift! Remember how lucky you are and take photos of your happy life. This is my family on a cold day at Bellwood cottages. We went to visit my sister and her family. My other two sisters and mom were also there. It was a special day for us all.
Now I want to ask a question... where are you keeping your personal photos saved and safe? How will your kids have access to them when they grow up?
  • There’s nothing worse than knowing that you take beautiful photos and feel committed to your job of being a wedding photographer; only to find that your expertise and passion is not translating into sales, and a career you love.

The Purposeful Photographer wants to change all that, because you, and your stunning photos, deserve to be out in the world where they can make people happy every day.

If you want to be more PRODUCTIVE, more EFFICIENT, more STRUCTURED and more JOYOUS, please keep reading.

Your and my goals might differ slightly, but one thing is for sure, we both want more. More for our finances, more for our families and more stamps in our passports ...We all want more than the occasional booking and a couple of Facebook likes.
And it all starts with knowing just that, what you want more of.

The Purposeful Photographer begins with knowing what you want from life, knowing what you want from you career and putting together a game plan that will help you achieve those goals.

This workshop consists of a series of conversations and exercises which will give you the tools to run a successful photography business.  And yes, it will show you how to use those tools too!
Get your ticket before midnight tonight and receive my excel spreadsheet booking form (a place to store client info, payment info, monthly expenses and keep a running tally of your monthly profits)
If you know that your business is lacking direction and organization, that your work could be more consistent, and that your dream client is sitting out there waiting to discover you and book you for their wedding... let's chat
This workshop is for photographers looking to break into the industry, photographers booking weddings but who need better direction and for photographers who are looking to be reinspired. *** Head to @hoorayworkshops for all the details. #thepurposefulphotographer
  • We didn't have long for posed photos. It was maybe 10 minutes before Jess&Farryl headed back to their guests. Naturally a silhouette shot was at the top of my priority list. 👍
Today seems like a good day to chat about rain on your wedding day. It doesn't have to ruin your mood if you focus on what's truly important. -
✔ You aren't getting married to have photos taken. You are having photos taken because you are getting married.
✔ If you are worrying about the rain, you won't have space in your mind to reflect on the big step you are about to take.
✔ Your partner might feel disrespected if you are fussing about the weather and ignoring the fact that a person is standing opposite you and giving themselves to you - till they die! That's a big deal!!
